water: Red Letter Challenge

Some days feel like walking through the desert searching for a drop of anything to quench a burning thirst.

Other days, you try not to drown as you are forced to drink from the firehose.

I like to think when Jesus encounters the Samaritan Woman at the well (John 4), he offers a third way.

Jesus answered, “Everyone who drinks this water will be thirsty again, but whoever drinks the water I give them will never thirst. Indeed, the water I give them will become in them a spring of water welling up to eternal life.”

John 4:13-14

“A spring of water” bubbling up from the source of life. Enough. Satisfyingly. Just what I need.

I am thirsty this Lent. I thirst for the water of life. I thirst for Jesus. With the woman as my guide, I pray I will receive this water of life and tell others where they too can have their thirst quenched.
