breath: Red Letter Challenge

Lent begins with the reminder, “From dust you came and to dust you shall return.”

Having our mortality smeared across our foreheads, we are meant to pause and reflect upon the meaning of this fleeting life.

But I am more than dust, more than this piles of flesh and bones.

God’s breath is what brought that dust to life. The Spirit is what animates this pile of flesh and bones.

Breath is life, just ask someone who cannot breathe, who struggles to draw in the breath that sustains this body.

So, yes I am dust, but God has transformed that dust into me…and you…and all of us.

If you ever forget how special that makes you, stop and take a deep breath. God will remind you if you just remember to keep on breathing.

Life is better together,
Shawn
